I am Sybolt Hakman, a physician with many years of training in the medical field and a broad background in both Western and Eastern Medicine.
I graduated as a doctor from the Vrije Universiteit (VU) in Amsterdam.
I worked briefly on a ship and an oil rig, and spent seven years as a repatriation doctor, flying patients back to the Netherlands from abroad.
Driven by an interest in Eastern philosophy and medicine, I studied acupuncture for three years at the Dutch Acupuncture Physicians Association (NAAV), and I have held the NAAV-C registration since 1987. I started my practice as a doctor and acupuncturist in Amsterdam-Zuid.
In addition to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), I also studied Electro-acupuncture, Functional Medicine, and Integrated Medicine. Fytotherapy and Orthomolecular Medicine soon followed.
Studying is one of my hobbies—particularly to understand the scientifically proven mechanisms and risk factors, as well as the causes behind chronic diseases.
More recently, I completed a three-year master program in Clinical Psycho-Neuro-Immunology (cPNI) at PNI Europe.
On a personal note, as a student and as a repatriation doctor, I traveled extensively and remain internationally oriented.
